International Federation of
Industrial Energy Consumers
IFIEC Europe, with its twelve federations, represents between 75%
and 80% of the industrial energy consumption in Europe, in industries
such as : steel & alloys, chemicals, non ferrous metals, cement,
pulp & paper, food & packaging, automobile, etc.
For these industries, energy
consumption is a significant portion of total production costs,
and energy is therefore a key factor of competitiveness.
The
common objectives of IFIEC Europe and
its members are : improve the cost-efficient
use of energy resources through responsible
energy management;; create conditions,
including options for energy sales, that
facilitate the development of most efficient
energy technologies, with minimized environmental
impact, such as cogeneration and valorisation
of negotiate specific and competitive
energy supply conditions, in by-products
; terms of supply load, continuity, flexibility,
duration and price.
IFIEC
Europe anticipates and responds to evolving
industrial energy user needs through dialogue
and co-operation with EU Institutions
and other European federations on energy-related
issues affecting the long term competitiveness
of energy supplies for industrial consumers
in Europe.
