GIE setting up as the European association representing the infrastructure industry: Transmission operators, Storage operators and LNG terminal operators

45 members, operators of gas infrastructures – transmission pipelines, storage facilities and LNG Terminals - within 26 countries, have formally set up GIE (Gas Infrastructure Europe) on 10 March 2005 as a legally independent and non-profit association.

GIE is structured with three columns:

  • GTE, Gas Transmission Europe, focused on transmission
  • GSE, Gas Storage Europe, focused on storage and
  • GLE, Gas Liquefied Europe, focused on LNG

The GTE membership has been automatically transferred to the GIE membership. A common GIE secretariat will cover these different activities.
